REGATTA BRAND HISTORY
Regatta was founded in 1981 by Lionel Black, who used his textile industry expertise to create affordable, high-quality outdoor clothing. As a family-run business, leadership has passed through the Black family, with Lionel's son, Keith Black, playing a pivotal role in the brand's growth.
Regatta has expanded from its modest beginnings into one of Europe’s leading outdoor clothing brands, offering a wide range of products from waterproof jackets to hiking gear.
Despite its growth, the brand has stayed true to its values of quality, durability, and affordability, making outdoor adventures accessible to all.

SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Regatta committed to delivering on targets for reducing waste, water and carbon emissions. They believe that every individual can make an impact and they’re committed to reducing their footprint across all our operations.

Renewable Energy
We're committed to using more renewable energy. We've installed solar panels at our UK headquarters and distribution center, reducing our reliance on the grid. Our goal is to eventually source all our electricity from 100% certified renewable sources.

Shipping
We prioritize sea shipping to reduce environmental impact, using trains when possible before higher-impact methods like airfreight. We also require our logistics partners to ship full containers to minimise emissions.

GHG & Carbon Measurement
We are tracking our carbon emissions across all operations and working to reduce them. By 2030, we're aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in line with the UN Global Compact goals.

Packaging
Since 2023, our polybags are made from 100% recycled plastic and are fully recyclable. We're working to reduce plastic packaging by 20% by the end of 2024, and by over 50% in the next few years. Our paper packaging comes from renewable sources and follows FSC standards.

Save Our Seagrass
We support the Wild Planet Trust’s project to protect seagrass meadows, a vital marine habitat. With over 90% of the UK’s seagrass meadows lost, this project raises awareness and monitors the health of Torbay’s seagrass to reduce human impact.
