HMS Victory Wooden Souvenir Model 51 cm
HMS Victory is the oldest commissioned warship in the world, and is still manned by the Royal Navy. Her most famous action was against Napoleon and the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, under the command of Admiral Lord Nelson. The battle was won by the English, but Nelson was tragically killed by a sniper's bullet. It was decided that Victory should be preserved as a lasting reminder of the Royal Navy's supremacy in the days of sail, and today she attracts over 350,000 visitors each year.
These display models have solid hulls with brass cannon, canvas sails and reasonably detailed rigging. As one would expect at the price they are somewhat simplified compared to our Tribute Models (see 7602 HMS Victory), and are not intended to be entirely accurate representations. They come supplied completely assembled and accompanied with a history leaflet.
