The Porthole Range of Clocks and Barometers is designed with solid and unlacquered brass. Whether it’s a clock, barometer or tide clock there is an opening bezel and bevelled glass as part of the design.

The tide clocks in the Porthole Range of Clocks and Barometers feature an additional hand which is used to record lunar time over the period of 24 hours and 50 minutes. This allows it to indicate successive high and low tides.

The barometer from the Porthole Range of Clocks and Barometers is designed with a sealed unit that has an adjustment mechanism included. When used correctly, the readings of the barometer and tide clocks can be surprisingly accurate.

For tide clocks, the tide indicator hand should be set to high tide when the next high tide in your location occurs. The exact time of the next high tide can be obtained from official tide tables. As a general rule, the best time for setting the tide hand is at high tide during a new or full moon. If it cannot be set during a new or full moon then check it at that time during the next cycle. The tide clock is not a perfect predictor of high and low tides during a moon phase; however, at the same location and at the same moon phase, it is surprisingly accurate.
