The Channel Brass Tide Clock & Barometer Onboard Instrument is part of the Channel Range of clocks and barometers which are made of solid lacquered brass with an opening latch and bevelled glass.

Mounted on a beautifully coloured wooden board, the clock has a quartz movement and the tide clock features an additional hand which records lunar time over a 24 hour 50 minute period and so indicates successive high and low tides.

The barometer has an adjustment mechanism as, in addition to changes associated with weather patterns, barometric pressure also changes with altitude, decreasing the higher your altitude. It is therefore necessary to adjust your barometer accordingly by turning the screw on the back.

A barometer should be sited with good airflow around it, not by an air-conditioning unit or heater.
