They were masterpieces of engineering and construction, able to withstand and defy the most terrifying elemental forces, but not the dogma of "cost efficiency". Which is why, as of November 1998, manned lighthouses became a closed chapter in Britain's maritime history - a situation which is being followed worldwide. With their automation goes much of the romance, but not our seemingly inexhaustible fascination with these irreplaceable contributors to maritime safety...Our ornamental lighthouses are 8" tall and made from realistically painted wood.
