Alpina Cheos Ski Helmet
The Alpina Cheos Ski Helmet is being heralded by Alpina as the most advanced ski helmet yet made.
Its principal qualities include the use of highly expanded polystyrene (HI-EPS) in combination with an in-mould shell. Hi-EPS contains countless extremely small air bubbles which, in the event of a crash producing a blow to the helmet, compress to cntain the effects of the force and dampen the impact on the head.
The top of the helmet also contains Hi-EPS but it is surrounded by a hard shell made of ceramic, a very thin and light polycarbonate which is extremely resistant to breaking and scratching and which is UV-stable and anti-static.
The Alpina Cheos Ski Helmet boasts extremely effective ventilation which can be regulated by means of a valve that controls the air vents.
Features
- Hybrid Tec: In this unique process, the external hard-shell helmet shell is connected to the inner shell by means of the Mold-Tec process. The result is extremely efficient ventilation and unbeatable stability.
- Ceramic Shell: The outer shell of all Alpina helmets produced by the in-mould method is made from ceramic. This very thin and light polycarbonate is extremely resistant to breaking and scratching and is UV-stable and anti-static.
- Hi-EPS: The inner shells of all in-mould helmets are made from Hi-EPS (highly expanded polystyrene), an especially fine-grained material coasting of many microscopically small air chambers. In a crash, these air bubbles absorb the acting forces and ensure protective damping. In-mould helmets with Hi-EPS therefore provide the greatest possible protection which lasts for a long time because Hi-EPS absorbs neither water nor perspiration.
- Edge Protect: A polycarbonate plate is bonded with the lower edge of the helmet by the In-Mold method. This is a crucial additional safety feature for lateral impacts and is effective protection against damage to the helmet in everyday use.
- Controlled Airstream: The airflow is regulated by opening and closing air vents on the helmet by means of a valve. These can be controlled intuitively, even with ski gloves on.
- Changeable Interior: Anyone who skis also perspires, especially on the head. Therefore, on Alpina helmets with changeable interiors, the inner lining can be removed quickly, washed by hand in lukewarm soapy water, left to dry and then simply inserted again.
- Removable earpads: On Alpina ski helmets with removable earpads, the two pads can be removed in seconds. In warm, sunny weather or when skiing in spring, the wearer has a new, free skiing experience without the protective function being impaired. If it gets colder, the pads are simply reattached to the helmet by means of a snap lock or press stud.
- Run system: Just the trick for an optimal fit. Although it has already become a classic, this adjustment system invented by Alpina is constantly being developed further. Thanks to the innovative dial at the back, every Alpina helmet can be adapted to fit perfectly in seconds, whether it be to accommodate an inner hood or a growing child's head, even when wearing ski gloves.
- Y-Clip: The T-clip brings the front and back straps together and fixes them comfortably beneath the ear. Fine adjustment is quick and simple.
- Ergomatic: All Alpina helmets are equipped with the ergonomically shaped ergomatic strap closure. The anti-twist, multi-stage automatic catch can be used single-handed and it cannot open in case of a fall, thus offering optimal safety. Furthermore, the ergomatic closure can be operated intuitively with just one hand. It is therefore possible to loosen the chin strap when going up the mountain and tighten it quickly before skiing downhill.
