Montane Direct Ascent eVent Waterproof Womens Mountain Jacket

The Montane Direct Ascent eVent Waterproof Women’s Mountain Jacket is designed to be the ideal top layer to wear when you are walking at altitude and want the comfort of a breathable jacket with the complete waterproof weather protection of a proper mountain jacket.

You are given a whole range of ways to customise the fit of this jacket to your precise requirements and preferences and of course to adjust that fit depending on the weather and your current activity.

The Montane Direct Ascent eVent Waterproof Women’s Mountain Jacket has been cut to accommodate additional layers underneath for winter conditions to make this an all-year round jacket and the integral hood is even helmet-compatible to further extend the range of activities this jacket will suit.

Features

  • Fit: Active Mountain: General mountain fit but garment adjustments enable close body fit
  • Waterproof
  • Breathable
  • Fabric: eVent Hurricane 3 Layer
  • Zips: YKK matte Aqua Guard
  • Weight (10): 440 g (15.5 oz)
  • Activities: Mountaineering, mountain walking, high trekking, backpacking

Construction

  • eVent Hurricane 3 Layer fabric is breathable and waterproof
  • Colour-matched 13-mm micro-taped seams to increase breathable surface area
  • 12-13 stitch count on all seams (typical industry average 8) creating tight, clean and strong seam
  • 3-mm seam allowance on all seams, reducing weight and bulk under micro-tape and creating smooth, strong seam

Patterning and Design

  • Tailored with mountain walking in mind; longer in body and able to accommodate winter layering
  • Technical tailoring prevents arm lift raising lower hem whilst reaching high
  • Articulated arms with engineered tailoring prevent seams constricting over elbows and biceps

Technical Hood

  • Three points of adjustment on climbing helmet-compatible mountain hood
  • Hood visor stiffened with wire on lip for adjustability
  • Internal elastic loop combined with hook on rear hood compression drawcord allows hood to be rolled down and stowed away whilst not in use in windy conditions
  • Bonded and stitched hood channels for extra strength
  • Single-hand-adjustable elasticated face aperture with floating cord locks and internal cord exit for simplicity and improved functionality

Pocket Configuration

  • Two deep map-sized hand-warmer A-line pockets with YKK matte Aqua Guard zips positioned well clear of backpack or climbing harness belt
  • A-line pockets feature brushed fine microfleece on inside to provide warmth
  • External pockets feature shaped zip garages to prevent further weather entry
  • YKK zips are both stitched and bonded into seams
  • Internal left-hand-side bonded mesh pocket with Velcro closure

Centre Front Zip

  • Full-length YKK matte Aqua Guard front zip is highly water resistant and two way to allow easy access to climbing or rucksack harness and/or trousers
  • Internal storm flap with rain drain edge behind centre front zip together with low-profile, durable Duraflex Thinna press stud to secure hem and prevent further weather entry

Collar and Cuffs

  • Bonded brushed fine microfleece on inner collar facings next to mouth, chin and rear of neck
  • Roll over beard guard prevents YKK zip from contacting chin or mouth
  • Shaped cuffs with adjustable hook and loop tabs for ease of use with gloves or mitts
  • Rear external Montane hang loop

Waist and Hem

  • Bonded internal waist channel to adjust fabric in body for closer fit
  • Bonded lower adjustable hem to prevent spindrift entry and heat loss
  • Montane penny cord locks on lower hem sides to create low profile for comfort under climbing harness or rucksack harness

Garment Care

  • eVent fabric contains a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) as first barrier keeping you dry; clean garment to maintain this
  • Machine wash in warm water at 40°C (104°F) with liquid detergent
  • Do not use fabric softeners or bleach; do not dry clean
  • Drip dry only
  • Montane recommends Nikwax TX Direct if jacket needs re-proofing to restore DWR
