Lorpen Trekking Expedition Polartec Long Socks are serious socks designed for serious occasions such as when you're clinging to an ice wall, wading a river, sitting in a tree stand or even just braving the cold in your sleeping bag.

Lorpen use a fusion of Polartec Powerstretch and Primaloft insulation along with double and triple padding on high-impact and friction areas, such as the shin, heel, toes and ball of the foot. The anatomical left-right foot shape of each sock combine with the cutting-edge insulation to provide a sock that can take you anywhere, having been tested up to 8,000 metres. The Lorpen Expedition Long Socks are ideal for long days trekking and for high energy activities in the toughest of conditions.

Areas where there is maximum friction and perspiration are lined with Porlartec Powerdry. Moisture and high relative humidity next to the skin cause discomfort. Polartec Power Stretch prevents this by keeping the skin dry through three complementary mechanisms:

• The fabric is highly breathable and does not restrict the movement of moisture vapour
• 'Touch points' on the fabric inner surface draw off the sweat, which is wicked off the skin to the outside of the fabric, where it spreads rapidly for evaporation
• When the sweat reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out to many times its original surface area, enabling it to dry at least 2 times faster than cotton
